Working for the Girl Friday Agency has been such a rewarding and enjoyable experience. With my husband in Military training and the unpredictable schedule that goes with that, and my own responsibilities at home I needed a job that could be flexible. Girl Friday was the answer! It offered me the flexibility I needed by allowing me to build my schedule around my needs and my clients’ needs all at the same time. I feel so lucky being able to work for Girl Friday and I enjoy the clients I work for so much. When I say the work is rewarding I really mean it. I am a senior companion for one of my clients and it is such a pleasure to spend my time helping her tidy up the house and get around town. Not being able to drive for herself, I am so delighted to know that I make her day by giving her the independence she wants to go to the store or spend an afternoon at the salon.

Happy Earth Day--Let's Talk Water

We all want to be more efficient with our time and resources, creating schedules and budgets that operate like well oiled machines. Unfortunately, water consumption is not something we often think about in regards to our own productivity, but is certainly an issue that deserves our attention. We use water everyday to drink, bathe, cook, clean, and even during our recreation. As savvy water users we can save money and maximize our water usage.

As an early morning riser, I have the opportunity to observe the lawn watering practices of many homes in my neighborhood. Sadly, I have noticed copious amounts of waste. I see automatic sprinklers dutifully coming on every morning at 6am and thoroughly watering the sidewalk and roadway. I daily observe gallons of water gurgling down the gutters in front of homes with over-watered lawns.

One way we can combat this waste is by preventing over spray. Remember, sprinklers can easily become turned and spray in wrong directions. We can spot those problem spots by briefly turning on the system after each mowing. Most sprinkler heads can be fixed by turning the sprinkler with a firm grip of your hand or pliers.

Associate Spotlight

At Girl Friday Agency we have many associates with a myriad of skills and talents. We would like to feature, Molly Hock.

Our marvelous Molly describes herself as, "...a part-time student at MPC looking to transfer to a 4 year college in the not too distant future. I'd like to major in Anthropological Primatology and minor in photography. Currently, when I'm not going to class or work, I put all my efforts into swimming. I've been a competitive swimmer since age 4 and am hoping to swim at a university possibly on scholarship. I'm very artistic, I love being outdoors, spending time with my family and boyfriend, traveling, working with young children (swim lessons, childcare, etc), cooking, doing anything athletic, riding horses when I have the opportunity, attending church events, and working with animals. I've held many jobs and had a lot of experience in many different areas; assistant florist, personal assistant to the elderly, swim lesson instructor, lifeguard, state park kiosk operator, waitress, babysitter, and various, customer service related jobs. I specialize in elderly assistance (taking walks, running errands, cooking, general house maintenance) and childcare/ swim lessons. I plan on living on the Monterey Peninsula for the next couple years and if all goes to plan, transferring to a college on the East coast".

Pre-Make Your Morning Smoothie

The night before, cut up all the fruits you want for your morning smoothie (you can even cut up a banana, the color will change, but it will not affect the taste of the smoothie), add fruit, milk, and yogurt into the blender pitcher. Store pitcher in the refrigerator overnight; in the morning all you have to do is set the pitcher on the blender and press start!

Confessions of a Busy Mom

I was recently chatting with a friend of mine who is pregnant with her third child. She was concerned how she was going to accomplish all the tasks of running her household.
