Yea or Nay?

We have all felt that dreadful feeling of saying "yes" to a request when we want to say "no".  Whether the request is from a friend asking for a favor you feel unable to give, or an invite to an event you do not want to attend--saying yes often seems like the polite thing to do.  Typically, we say yes to an unfavorable request as a result of guilt.  However, agreeing to a troublesome request is not poor manners.  Tactfully navigating the a request decline can be done, and you will feel more at ease and in control of your time and energy.

If your decline is coupled with a smile, a polite "thank you", and a diplomatic explanation, you can  courteously bow out and retain your positive relationship with the individual.

Master the adroit "no, thank you" and rid yourself of the guilt motivated "yes".

Please review this article titled, 10 Guilt-Free Strategies to Say No for some discreet decline ideas.

Virtual Life Saver

I recently read an article by a small business owner regarding his struggle to survive his tremendous workload.  This small business owner, named David, was over whelmed with professional and personal tasks--every item on his to-do list screamed for his immediate attention, and he was simply unable to manage his growing business without assistance.  David knew he needed help, but was unable to manage a new employee, nor offer that employee office space.  David's solution was to hire a virtual assistant.  Happily, the results have been favorable and David is happy with the two new valuable virtual assistance.  David's business is flourishing and he is able to strike a healthy balance between his professional and personal responsibilities.

Please read David's article entitled, How Hiring a Virtual Assistant Saved my Business.

1. Chose the store brand version of your desired remedy.

Credit Caution

Our household was recently the victim of a credit card scam.  An individual stole our credit card number and maxed it out--fortunately, our credit card company is not holding us responsible for the charges.

This incident propelled me to investigate the status of our credit score.

Here is a link to view an instructional video regarding checking your credit score.

Plants--Home Alone

Summer is coming to an end, and many people are squeezing in one last excursion.  Girl Friday Agency's tip today will help you keep your houseplants alive and well whilst you travel--without having to recruit plant feeders.

Eye See a Need

Girl Friday Agency's tip for today: how to donate your unwanted eyeglasses.  Eyeglasses of all shapes, sizes, and prescriptions can be donated to someone who cannot afford lenses.

Instead of tossing your glasses, mail your lenses to New Eyes for the Needy.  This noble organization provides eyeglasses for adults and children in the U.S. and internationally.

Or if you prefer, you can drop off your old glasses at your local LensCrafters or Target Optical locations.  Plus, you can select an optometrist who collects glasses for One Site, another organization that donates uses eyeglasses to those in need.
